A lot can be said without saying anything back. Too many variables in all these hypotheticals. Would I say something back- eh depends on if kids are with me. I can speak back- if he thinks it's ok to verbally attack my wife I can use verbal skills as well. My vocabulary would undoubtedly trump his. And it doesn't have to be all f this and f you. Sometimes killing them with kindness makes them think harder about the situation once it's ended than if you spouted off garbage same as the offender. But don't get it twisted, I'm down for throwing hands in a Winn Dixie ....

Exactly. Big difference between throwing down in the Winn Dixie and staring at the floor until the bad man goes away.

Several have mentioned kids. What are you teaching your kids if they are with you and they watch you just stare at the ground and hope he goes away. I teach my boy that he best not ever start anything but that if someone starts something with him, I expect him to finish it. Not only that I want him willing to stand up for his friends when confronted with a bully.

I'll admit that it is different when you are 40 years old and more mature. But the only way to deal with a bully in school is to stand up to him and beat his ass. I can't ask my son to do that I'd he sees me doing the opposite.

There's this little law called pointing/presenting. Old man was not trying to show off a new firearm purchase. And I'm with a few other guys on here. Nobody would disrespect my wife like that. It is unlawful for a person to present or point at another person a loaded or unloaded firearm.

The statute does not specify where you are located when it happens. It also does not say that you necessarily have to point it.

I have never had it happen just stating from the video and no it would not be justified to shoot him if he had no weapon out.

Are you staying that if the young guy jumped the fence to fight the old man and didn't have a gun the old man can't justifiably shoot him? If so, that is simply false, just ask George Zimmerman. The key is if a person is in fear for their life or those imediatley around them, 'weapon' or no weapon, although a fist certainly qualifies as a weapon.

I'm saying that just by jumping the fence to confront him no it wouldn't be justified. Until an attack has begun you have no right to shoot someone and call it self defense.

I do not know the law like some of the people on here but I don't think that is true. Are you saying the old man has to wait to be clocked in the face before he can defend himself? Again, IMO (could be wrong) if a person is in fear of their life, they can legally defend themselves. If a 300lb dude high on bath salts is running right at you to eat your face, do you have to wait until he tackles you to draw your weapon and attempt to defend yourself?
