Lake Moultrie, especially close to locks is not anything like an ocean bay. Waves from one direction can be handled, when you are being hit from two or three different directions, different story. I wouldnt judge unless you have actually been out there

So you are saying Moultrie is worse than an ocean Bay?

It can be. You also have to factor in the 10 million fat lighter stumps that will rip your boat in half if you come down on one.

That's what the ones that are parked on the beach did. This video is the back side of the seawall. There's another from the front that's more to scale. It went from being a beautiful to that in about 15 to 20 minutes.

Got caught on NI Reef on one like that 4 years ago. It was a ride for about 45 minutes. Hunkered down and hung out.

Last year had a bolt of lightning hit close enough to splash us. Talk about getting your sphincter to pucker up.

    Steelin,
45 years of fishing on Moultrie have given me the upmost of respect for it. I have come closer to sinking a boat on Moultrie than I ever have in any saltwater.

So now the lake is more dangerous than the ocean...?

I think the point is...most people take ocean boats to the ocean. When you take a "lake boat" to the lake and it turns into the ocean, you have issues....

So that's why I always see a few 38 fountains with trip 300s and outriggers tied up on Murray.....

that's jus people who want you to think they know what they are doing but if they would take said boat to salt they couldn't run the waves or load it. Fresh water deep sea riders

    Good analysis jw.

Moultrie can become a very dangerous beast when high winds pick up and unless you are in a capable boat it can kill you. Over the last 20+ years bad weather on Moultrie has probably killed way more boaters than the waters off Charleston harbor.
