Default Looking for advice on rebuilding a motor

So I have a 98' tohatsu m40d, one of the crank bearings went bad and I brought it to macs service and repair out in chapin. I've dealt with him before when the pinion gear went bad and I had him rebuild the whole lower unit. Biggest issue was his lack of professionalism, returning phone calls, and just straight up taking too long to get it done. it was in his shop for 4 months. now I'm worried I'm gonna have to wait even longer and I'm wondering if there's someone else who might be better suited for this job. I live in Columbia.

I'd imagine you'll be waiting a while about anywhere this time of year.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

actually got a call back from Mac last week. told me he pulled the head off and there's water in the cylinders. whoever redid the head on this tohatsu put a TDLI head gasket(a fuel injected motor) on it instead of the one for a carb motor. sprung a leak, pretty pissed about that. I reckon whenever he snatches the block he will get to look at the crank. hoping the crank actually wasn't the culprit and is still in good condition.

Mac is damn good, but this time of year he is busy as hell!! You never have to worry about him blowing smoke up your ass or trying to rip you off. If you can stand the wait, he is a good one to use.

In my experience being good at returning phone calls and being good at repairing outboards are mutually exclusive skill sets.
