    Default How was your hog

The Old Man and I cooked a pig for 20 yesterday using Royal Oak lump charcoal. What a bitch to get lit, but once it got going it was super.

Sierra Nevada brewery up here employs a bunch of red wattle pigs to eat their spent mash, and we were able to secure one of them for our BBQ.

    Damn good swine...

JABIII - this fall pick up a box of Strike-a-Fire starters from WalMart, Ace, etc. I typically break one stick into 4 pieces and place each piece just under the charcoal spacing them evenly around the pile. Light them off and it won't be long. About 20 minutes for Royal Oak in the BGE and 35 minutes in the grill.

Those things are great, I use them or the ones that Komodo Joe makes.

FWIW Fogo will light about three times as fast so you don't have to wait around that long.

Sounds awesome. I love that damned brewery. Whenever I'm near there, I have to stop and try what's new on the rotation.

I bet that was a good eatin' pig.
