    Default The ole mortgage lifter

We (finally!) got a very nice and much-needed rain at the farm. While it won't pay off a mortgage, it should "make" this year's corn crop in the duck impoundments. I think the remaining weather-related issues that we have left to dodge are tropical systems and the thousand-year rainstorms that have plagued us the last two Octobers.

Not sure where you are, but we're in the general vicinity of Francis Marion University.

    That is what I thought.

From where Roary was back to the power lines before Moores Croos Roads it has been pretty decent.

We got another 1.9" at the farm last night. As far as rain can take it, the corn is made!

Nope. Not about 'maters. The "ole mortgage lifter" from my youth was a (supposedly outlawed) tobacco variety that produced unusually heavy leaves. That was back in the day when farmers were limited on acres, but not on pounds that could be marketed. If memory serves, the variety was particularly susceptible to Granville wilt....

But at my age, sometimes memory doesn't serve so well!
