Any gas station with a fat woman, a fryer, and a glassed in buffet could compete with anyone on this list. I have not read the list. I was at a produce stand when a gentleman asked me where I was from, checking to see if we had one in our town. I knew damn well we didn't... not since Sandra had cooked at the Black River Shell..

let's merge this thread with the best hamburger thread and you people can argue about stupid shit together.

if you cant get a boring ass piece of chicken, coat it with flour and seasonings, and drop in oil.....you shouldnt be allowed in a kitchen.

Plus, my gramma made the best fried chicken so the rest of this talk is just silly....
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

No mention of Mama's kitchen or the Borwn Derby in Orangeburg, Rusty & paulas in Bamberg, the Giant in Neeses removes any validity in that article.
The best fried chicken is the last week of September/first of week of October at Indian Field Campground but that is not available to all.

D&H has stepped up their fried chicken game. BBQ still the same.

Maybe it's just the location I ate it at but I didn't like Popeyes chicken at all, and I like almost any fried chicken.

Yeah, the location makes a big difference. The one by Ocean Lakes was terrible when they first opened, but it's a LOT better now.

I didn't like the Conway location but I tried it when they first opened so maybe that's why. I'll be sure to give Popeyes another try.

Going back many years ago. I really miss Herb's. For my money, that was the best chicken I have had so far. I damned cried when they closed. I am hoping to find some place that matches or beats that chicken along with the really cold beer he served.
The only good thing about my imperfections is the joy they bring my friends.

Mickeys in Pageland does have some damn fine fried chicken. I figured Beth's Country Kitchen would have made the list before Mickeys tho because theirs is to die for.

As far as NC fried chicken, hands down the best I have had was at Biscuits N' Porn in Nags Head. The chicken and their handmade cheddar biscuits are almost untouchable.

This is dumb in the South there is no bad fried chicken well should not be. Don't over cook it and only fry a few pieces at once. Some batters are better than others but it is not like bbq where several cookers could compete.

The best in my town is Shrimp Boat but anyone can do better at home.

There is a country store outside of Troy Alabama that was possibly the best I have tasted but the next year it was average.

I had some really good fried chicken at a gas station in West Helena, Arkansas one time that might have been the best ever. I had to sit in my truck with a pistol in my lap and eat it. But that place was the bomb.

If you want the best fried chicken, go to a funeral. Funeral fried chicken is always delicious.

    Zesto's
    Bernie's
Bobops in Estill isn't bad. Beats the El Zarape's Mexican joint fried chicken...
Doc's BBQ in Cola has great fried chicken.

I just about like any fried piece of yard bird...
