I understand and appreciate all of these options. He is my good kid. I certainly would look at it differently if it were a different situation. He is the kid that went and got a job on his own. He makes straight As and goes to football conditioning every morning at 630 am without a single complaint. He has offered to use Mom's old iphone 5. He has also offered to pay off his old phone or whatever it takes. We will handle that internally. Thank you.

Don't do it. My 12 yr old and 10 yr old are doing just fine without one. We keep a spare phone for them to take on trips when they are without us. Other than that they don't have a use for one.

When I was his age, I broke more then a few phones and was responsible for the replacements. I quickly learned a good case was the best insurance policy. You get him the phone, make sure he knows a water proof case is the best way to avoid this situation in the future.

My son is rolling with a flip phone with tracphone service. We pulled his iphone when we looked through his instagram and snapchat photos. Damn at some of the things these 14-16 year old girls put out on the internet.
