    Default Inshore go to setup

Whats your preferred rod, reel, and line set up for inshore fishing for reds/trout/flounder? Looking to purchase some new stuff and just seeing what works best for most.

2500 stradic on 7ft gloomis for artificials, if you are just going to be using live or cut bait the $100 penn battle combos are hard to beat. 20lb braid

unnamed decent 6.5-7' rod with a decent $50 reel and some good braid. I often go 30lb.

I have spun some nice reels but in my passion to tear shit up, i have found the "average" reel can reel in fish just the same.

I admit I am not on government assistance but I am not spending stradic money for a salt water reel (that I wont take care of).

If you take care of your stuff, Stradic on a Greenwater rod is had to beat.

    a $200 reel on a $200 rod

I can have five set ups for that price and reel every fish in.

(i re-admit I dont take care of shit, but I dont want a $200 reel sitting in the pluff mud where I often find myself)

7' st croix premier & a stradic 3000 w/ 20# braid to 15# flouro leader & a trout eye jig head, for budget go with a sahara reel & star rod, or super budget the AX reels & an ugly stick, i swore by the cheapo reels, but after fishing my stradic, i'd rather have 1 stradic that always works smooth than a pile of reels that constantly need maintenance or fail, that said, the sahara is just as reliable, it's just a little cheap / flexible feeling compared to the stradic

Sahara 2500 and Berkley makes a 7' inshore rod that's pretty good for around $60.

Penn conflict 3500 on a good ole ugly stick elite

Those conflicts are on big sale right now.

For the heavier stuff, Penn spinfishers

Stradic 3000 on G loomis bronzeback 7'2" medium-light rod. Been my go-to for close to 5 years now. Also have a G loomis E6X Inshore 7'6" Medium with a Sahara 4000 that has been good too but haven't had this combo but a couple months.

Are the Sahara reels you all are talking about black and gold or are they grey? Seeing several different ones when looking them up.

My response was a nice way of saying "for everybody else that doesn't drive a Dodge and dig around inside of people's man pleasers for a living, would do good to buy a Stradic and a Greenwater."

Penn spinning reel with skirted spool on an Ugly Stick Lite. Braid's fine but finish with a flourocarbon leader.

The Sahara looks black in artificial lighting to me but out on the boat in bright sunlight it is kind of a dark gray

I bought a couple of those Veritas 2.0 casting rods a while back. I like em.

Stradics are top shelf. I've got a couple of 2500's that are the first thing I pick up.

I just bought a couple of Cinnetic 3500's from a rep buddy of Snap Hunters. They seem like solid reels but I haven't got to try em out yet.

Agreed. I have four variants of this rig sitting on go at all times.
