    Default Trout Fishing Suggestions

I want to do some trout fishing for a day or two this summer and I think I have my dad talked into coming along. This is something that neither of us have ever done before. Somewhere nice in the mountains, not looking for trophy fish, just want to catch some and keep a few to bring back with us. Since we are new at this and don't have any trout fishing equipment we're going to hire a guide. Not sure yet if were going to do a wade trip or a float/wade trip.

If anybody's got any suggestions on a guide service for Tennessee/ North Carolina it would be greatly appreciated

There's a couple minnow fishermen on here. Maybe you could trade a squirrel hunt since either one is about as lackluster as the other

Make sure to mention to your guide prior to booking that you'd like to keep a few. Many guides have catch-and-release only policies.

Check your pm's duck cutter. Rodney can vouch for me that I can catch them.

You don't need a guide.Banner Elk,Newland,Linville have all the fishing you want.Nightcrawlers on ultra light tackle pitch upstream keep rod tip up and slowly reel or let the bait tumble down to you taking in the slack.Small streams.

I'll have them a limit in less than 30 minutes on salmon eggs.

Unless you are strictly wanting to fly fish, no guide is needed. Western NC is full of hatchery supported streams and the information on when/where they are stocked is available. Ultralight, rooster tail, jig, bait, etc. can catch you plenty of trout. Take DJA up on his offer. It will be a ton of fun. I have been fishing up there 20+ years, actually going up tomorrow morning for the day. It's a lot of fun.

Don't take him up on this offer #tattoos.
Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him

He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right

Yea but none on my face, neck, or hands. Plus I probably catch more trout than 90% of the people on this site combined.
