    Default Best trout (freshwater) bait?

So some rivers are opening up to baitfishing this weekend near me and my wife is taking my son (5yo) to catch some to keep on saturday. We really only fly fish, but are not snobs about it. And when kids are involved i am usually the cricket/worm man.

so, all that said, what should my wife put on the end of his line? Ive always used corn back before i started tying my own flies.

(And yes, my wife is cooler than me. She has more waders than i do and fishes 2x as much as i do)

i see worm containers on the banks sometimes. Cant imagine why they wouldnt hit a red wriggler if they'll hit a san juan worm.

but I always think of corn when I think of people that fish with spinning rods and corks for trout. The real question should be white or yellow? Or maybe that "mexican" canned corn that has pimientos or red peppers in it?
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

The best way to catch stocked trout is to watch for the truck to dump them, after the truck leaves hit them while they are still milling around the bridge with a cast net. It's also a great way to supply trout for a church or fund raising fish fry. If you can't throw a cast net gets some friends to help you pull a seine.

Our old buddy Bobby, he used to shock fish down on the river to have enough fish for the church fish fry
