    Default Buying a boat

When buying a new boat will the dealer usually come down on the price. Looking at a pontoon and got a price over the phone. Just wondering if they will come down any when I go in later today. It is a 2016 model if it makes any difference

From my experience whether it be Boat and vehicles, the Internet has changed the sales game to a certain extent. Cash talks though

Same principles as a car deal. There's tons of options and dealers out there, if they want to sell you one, they'll deal.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Not being a smart ass, so please don't take it this way, but the whole cash talks is a thing of the past with dealers. I recently bought a new truck and the dealer told me he could care less if I paid cash or not. He said he got paid the same no matter what. Maybe with small dealers it's different, but the Toyota dealership I dealt with said cash or loan didn't make a difference to them.

Get as many price quotes from as many dealers as possible. Take the lowest quote to the dealer you prefer to buy from and ask him to at least match it.

    Did you end up financing?

    This

Don't get his best price and then shop......do your homework ahead of time and buy from the dealer that will be servicing the boat.

Other than a little extra paper work, some dealers may prefer you finance it. It's possible that they get paid in some form or fashion by having you finance the purchase.

Certainly having cash means they don't have to worry about your credit score.

When you pay cash for boat or car, dealer loses on both sides. Dealers make their money on the financing and warranties/extras. There is always a few thousand dollars that the price can be lowered.

Yeap the game has changed. They actually prefer you to finance. The cash game still works with used stuff.
