    Default Congaree flatheads

A group from Ohio are setting traps and flat tearing up the catfish. Then it is back up north for the bigger flatheads. According to dnr they are legal but are killing a lot of little catfish. Black truck and a big aluminum boat with double windshields.

So you are worried about someone coming in, trapping an invasive species, killing a few or a lot, and hauling the others off?

I still don't have a problem with it. Kill all the catfish to save these.

I still hate em. Gonna take more than a few flatheads to sway me.

I wish they'd all go back to Ohio for a permanent staycation.

Just curious what the traps looks like. I assume they are hauling them back alive.

I bet there are more dead non target fish than they admit to.

I can't say what traps the Ohio dudes were using, but I've seen hoop traps used on the Congaree. Netting held open by a series of metal hoops hung in deep holes, held open by the current. They look similar to a wind sock. They really work on the catfish. Huge gar, too.
