We have a 9yr old female lab and she has a wart on her head. About 1/2" in height and diameter. Vet wants $300 to cut it off. That seems high to cut a wart off. I told them to hold off for now. Thoughts??

I take an PLB in the shower with me. Can't ever be too safe.

They tried to freeze it off already? I just had a mass removed off my lab with light sedation and I think it was around $150.
No freezing yet. Said it's too big.

I guess that comes down to vet opinion... They tried to freeze my dog's off and it was a bit bigger than the one you mention. In the end, the freeze didn't work and we had to cut it off... It was worth a shot though since they only charged me about $40 for the freeze option. My dog is 11 years old, so I wanted to avoid putting him under, etc at all costs. In the end, they just gave him some strong meds and didn't put him fully under. Wish I had done it sooner. It has healed up just nicely.
Can't say much on the price other than it sounds about on par with what we've paid in the past for various cancer/tumor surgeries, although if they're sure it's just a wart and not a tumor it might be high.
Suggestion... Especially based on your dog's age... make sure any Vet you choose uses gas anesthesia if anything other than a local is needed. There's less potential for problems and your dog recovers almost right away vs hours, or more.
Good luck.

Shave around it, add anbasol, disinfected razor knife or a scalpel if you have one, suture it up and your done. 7-10 days all healed. Or just leave it alone.

Get yourself a DVM edumacayshun. Pay for some insurance, a license, a building, buy an anesthesia machine and some "tools". Hire a few folks to look busy and make it seem legit for your customers and start doing $99 wart removals 90 days same as cash.
Seems simple enough.
If you want a break down on what all that stuff cost just let me know and I'll shoot you some numbers.

All those tests cost money bro...
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
Glenn,
Let's buy some Bourbon and watch a few of these fellers practice wart removal on each other.. That would be entertaining.
