    Default Traeger Grills

I have heard good things about these grills. Has anyone used one? Thoughts?

It shouldn't be considered a grill. It does smoke. I would call it more of a smoker that has a cord you plug in. If you're looking to be able replace a grill with it.. it wouldn't be prudent.

It's made for the folk that can't or don't have the ability to cut firewood. Simple as that. Not knocking traeger, but I can burn wood and drink beer all day if I wanna cook. I guess for a set it and leave type cook it'd work great.

A company basically gave me a Texas elite. It was cool for thoughtless smoking, but the couple times I used it I felt like I was cheating. I messed with the temps a little, but I don't remember if I could get much over 400 with it. So, you'd still need a grill. Unless someone likes slow smoke baked burgers or steaks. That's just my take on it. I also didn't care for plugging it in, that felt wrong too. But if you have room, want something that's pricey and easy than it's for you.

What the others have said has been my experience with them. The people I know that have them, like em. I'll be over here sticking to my Weber.

I smoked 2 ribeyes last night that were about 3 inches thick on my green mountain. Took about an hour or so. Never even had to check on them. Just looked at my app on my phone to tell me what temp they were at while I prepared everything else inside. Doesn't really feel like you're smoking something because it's so easy. If I got all Saturday with nowhere to go and plenty of beer to drink I'm gonna use the barrel smoker

I have a traeger for slow cooking and I really like it. I also have a round Weber for steaks and burgers.

Take a look at Rec-Tec as well.

I'm thinking one of them may be my next grill. Overnight brisket machine.

Every time you plug in a...tahellwidit.. I'm getting tired of saying it. Get a crock pot and a bottle of liquid smoke, I recommend yankee flavored.

For what it's worth Charlie, I give you an amen everytime you say it. And it was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread.

A Traeger is to a grill as Dale's is to marinade.
