Cushion Recover
My cushions and coaming bolsters were in need of a recover, so I talked to a "buddy" and he gave me a recommendation. Said the guy just did his CC and they turned out great. Said he was fast and the price was good. Usually fast work and good price don't associate with BOAT but since he had a personal story, I thought I'd give the brotha a shot.
I have a total of 7 cushions and 4 coaming bolsters and he said the price was $950. I asked how long and he said a week, so I left them with him. I get a call Monday morning and he said they were ready, so I head over there at lunch. At first glance, they looked great, so I picked them up and went home. The first one I pulled out of the truck caught my eye.... there were razor cuts in the material. WFT!! I then looked over the rest and there were a total of 4 cushions that had razor cuts in the material. There were also a host of other issues, so I loaded those back up and took them back.
The guy wanted to argue with me and then was in no way apologetic but said he would take care of it and that I would have them back this week. So this evening I decided to put the remaining cushions on and they are F$@Ked up as well. Snaps where they shouldn't be any, snaps in the wrong place, cushions are not square to the seat, too much material, zippers all F&$KED up, more razor cuts. Needless to say, I'm pretty pissed. If ole boy couldn't do it the tell me but don't try to sneak it by me by.
So I pulled the seats out of the boat...mind you thatss not an easy task and I'm headed back down there tomorrow with the rest of them. I hope he will stand behind his work and make it right but I'm afraid I'm going to be out $950. The place is Convertible Top Specialist, just in case you need some work don.....don't go there.
