    Default Heavyweight 7's won't pattern

28" barrel 20 gauge m2. Purchased new 2 years ago. Figured I'd try to kill a turkey with it. Bought a Rob Roberts .570 choke. Bought some 3" fed heavy 7's. At 40 yards, shooting at a very large sheet of paper, from a Caldwell lead sled, sitting on a bench, I got 72 hits in a 10"! Let me say that again. 72!!!! Boy was I upset. Shot a few different shells, they looked poor as well, but I got over it. Ok, so then I calmed down and said that's ok, I'll just get a different choke. It's gotta be the choke, ya know, no big deal. So, I bought a TRULOCK .565 heavyweight 7 specific choke they've got, designed for the express purpose of patterning those shells. Same method as before, 40 yards, lead sled, same results. 77 pellets this time. So, my question is, now what?

    Try the .555 Indian Creek

Post a picture of the pattern. I would not run the Indian Creek with the flight control wad. I know a lot of people have done it but some have wound up with barrel issues as well. Post the pattern pic.

You have a barrel problem, not a shell problem here!

Clean the barrel, then clean it again. Call Rob Roberts and tell them your issue then ask what shell they recommend from your weapon - give that shell a try before doing the choke shuffle. Roberts will stand behind their work. An optic will help greatly when patterning - most like the burris FF, I like the truglo gobble stopper.

Nitro recommends the rhino choke. Over several guns, I have never seen a poor pattern using nitros and their recommendation on choke. Im sure someone may have different results, but their legwork has been spot on in every gun ive seen.

For an M2 20 with 28in barrel your shooting what Rob will tell you normally works best. I shoot the same thing. Call him he will help you get it worked out

What does the whole pattern look like? Your POI might be off. Mine shot right and low but would throw 181 in a 10in circle at 40.

I'll post pics this evening of the pattern. But mind you, I'm shooting at a 4' wide sheet of paper. I'm not "missing the paper"

I would also recommend not using the lead sled. Get a set of sand bags and shoot again. Put an orange sticker on the paper and use that as your POA.

If the POI is off, then you have your answer. My lil Savage 220 throws an incredibly tight pattern with a Sumtoy .562 and HW7s. The pattern with TSS9s is mindblowing. It requires a Red dot and a tight hold.

IC or Sumtoy. Where you located? I've got an IC .555 you can try

Edit: Couldnt see your location on my phone when I originally made this post. Meeting up shouldnt be hard, I live in Johnston and work in Lexington. Give me a shout and I'll get that IC to you so you can give it a try. 803-761-2661

Ok, I know it seems very hard to believe this, but I am telling you that I am shooting at a 4 FOOT square sheet of paper. I am not missing the paper. I wish it was that simple of an answer of "well I'm just missing the paper" but I'm telling yall, it's that bad. My pattern SUCKS. PS, that's a great looking pattern Nitro.
