    Default 4-8-17 NC opening day

Was a tough day today only herd 3 birds at first light. My son and myself got on one from about 8 am til 10 and could not do anything with him. Took my son home at 10 so he could get ready for work and I went back. Hunted hard all day but not could get anything to respond at any of my other spots so I decided to go back after the bird from first thing this morning. I eased into the field about 5:30 and let things settle down. About 6 he finally gobbled one time in response to my calls and Walked out at the other end of the field. For the next 30 minutes I got to watch him spit, drum, and strut all the way to the call and decoy and boy what a show it was. Shot him in the face at 20 yards 20 lbs 10" beard 1" spurs typical 2 yr old. Was a long hard day but was well worth it.

    Go ahead Joel!
