I am going with Zorro on a back-yard renovation.

I personally think nothing is prettier than an established yard of fescue.

I am in the same boat tho I am about to replant my front yard and I am not sure fescue would be a good choice as brutal as the summers are now

It depends on soil what trees are in the yard sun areas etc. Can you explain your yard a little?

Yea I know. I have a friend that built his house in a pasture in edgefield that had fescue established, and man is it pretty.

I want to plant some type of grass with a broader stem. Had bermuda before and its ok.

    Jamur Zoysia.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I have a yard full of Zoro. It look awesome in summer time and feels great. Wife and son sit down and play in it on summer afternoons. Great grass other than it's a motherf$&@#% to cut. I have to cut my yard with a push mower, up high every week. Don't mess up and let it go too long between cuttings. I did once or twice and it was a bitch. Even borrowed a friends $12k zero turn and it would bog they damn thing down. I live close to lake so it's clay and irrigate daily.

I had Meyer Zoysia in the yard of my last house. It had a wider blade, was thick as carpet, and didn't require much water.

Xtrema - Make sure and give Feetdown a shot at the yard...he is a grass man!

Just because they are acidic. And if you leave them there it could create bald spots in the turf.

Part of the state and amount of shade are the two questions you need to answer before someone can really point you in the right direction.

what about for a tiny yard need less than 2 pallets to cover the whole deal and two dogs(labs) stay back there during the day. Gets pretty good sun from 8-4 but backs up to a cow pasture(fence and tiny hedgerow separate it). Am I just wasting my time trying to put grass there? Should I put a mulch barrier down(between fence and grass)?
