Made a quick stop on the way back from Miami at the Norfolk Southern Fishing Lodge on the St. Johns River in Palatka. Caught over 20 fish in 4 hours ranging from 2 to 8 pounds. Most were in the 3 pound range with several 5-6 pounders and the 8. Pitching live shiners to the bank and cover in a 20 yard area of a small shallow canal. All the fish were plump, healthy and that gorgeous dark coloration. Best freshwater trip I've had in a long time. If anyone has the chance to fish the St. Johns River in February or March, definitely take it.
