Also won one from DU last year. Mines a tack driver.

To answer your question probably a Burris Fastfire.

I've got a Vortex Venom on a Ruger Mark 3. It's a great little sight. Top loading battery and has manual and auto dot brightness adjustment. I picked it up at PSA in Mt P for $225.

Look up Holosun. They have one with a 2 mm dot. Ive seen this on quite a few AR's and it seems to hold up well. It is photo cell powered with a battery back up. Always on.

Not being familiar with Holosun units, I did a quick search for reviews and this is the first one I came across. Not real encouraging, although I'm sure there are many positive ones out there.

Note his last few paragraphs about the upgraded mounting systems (Aimpoints) solved some of the problems.

I'm gonna get a new 22/45 MkIV Lite in burnt bronze and outfit it with a Vortex Venom, so obviously the Venom gets my vote. It's like a poor man's RMR.

With a Burris Fastfire II, do you also have to buy a separate mount for it? What's the full scoop here?

    Thanks.

People that have bought them that I know are pleased. One of them did look them up as you have and saw negative comments and then found more inspiring ones elsewhere.

On the C-mores, I understand they have an aluminum base now that is supposedly nice.

I like my Burris Fast Fire on a 44.

How does that Vortex SPARC II co-witness with the Buckmark iron sights? Have you had a chance to set it up and check it out?

I'm trying to decide which red/green dot optic to try out on my 'new to me' Buckmark that's coming soon.

I was just wondering since that SPARC II has a multiple height riser unit so the lowest height might sit lower than I'm thinking. I've just never put a red dot on a Buckmark before so don't have any reference point to go on.

    Which brings up another question...

Which might be more preferable on a Buckmark UDX Target .22 with the rail... a Vortex SPARC II with the optional height riser, or a Burris Fastfire III with the AR-F3 mount? The Vortex is about $200 and the FF III is currently $250. Both are more than I wanted to spend, but either would easily transfer to a shotgun or AR15 if desired, so it's not sunk $'s.

None, IMHO. Something like a Trijicon RMR, Vortex Venom, Burris FastFire, or about anything other than a tubular optic on a handgun.

The FF III is just like the Venom or the RMR, just without the AR-F3 mount, isn't it???

I just found in the specs for the Venom where it does come with a Picatinny mount, whereas I thought that was an additional cost, so it would be $215-$230 + tax locally.

The only advantage to the FF III with the AR-F3 mount would be the easy movement to an AR vs. the Buckmark. I'm thinking the AR-F3 mount would sit higher than preferred on the pistol, so a lower mount plate would be needed, but the current pricing at Cabelas is attractive.

I have the SPARC II....it came with 3 different plates for different mounting heights.....the one I used is the lowest one....I like it alot after about 2 or 3 clip fully I can hit a 2" x2" metal spinner 8 out of 10 times....and I'm not a good pistol shot at all.....always been my weakness of the 3 guns...

I haven't decided what I'm looking at since I've never used a handgun with red dot optics before. I thinking my squirrel hunting will take less ammo if I do use one, though, that's for sure. However, it obviously can't be cost-justified since there aren't THAT many squirrels hounding me or attacking my house.

At what distance are you shooting at the metal spinner?

20 yards....hopefully gonna put it on a bench and see what kind of groups I can get out to 50

And them bushy tailed scoundrels live in my house every morning running up and down on a metal roof is really annoying.....already have them so gun shy any window or door that gets cracked they scratch off....all in different directions
