    Default What 1600$ looks like.

So after arguing with my insurance for not covering any of the expense, and now getting DHEC involved (with the insurance co) hopefully I'll get some help. In the mean time thank the lord for good people.

Original cost 400$ per box. After they realized I was having to pay the entire bill the drug store was scrambling to help cut the cost. Cash price ended up being just shy of 1300$

The gentleman at DHEC an I got into the discussion of why the state no longer pays for this being it is genuinely a major public health concern. I mean talk about the walking dead. Think about what would happen if a illegal immigrant had been in my shoes. There is no way they would have jumped through all of the hoops I went through an they certainly would not be paying these exorbitant prices for a vaccine.

Then next thing you know they are infecting half the apartment complex over off Second Loop road. Then we really have a issue. Its a sad day in this country when a insurance co will pay for viagra quicker than a vaccine critical to life. Or the fact states will pay for abortions and not this.

I would say this is something the congress critters in Columbia should address, but it appears Stripers and Flounder are much more important than public safety an roads.

    Yup, he's crazy...

like a fox. The dude may be coming in a little too hard and crazy but 90% of everything he says is correct.

An Illegal would have gotten it for free.

I know more about the healthcare ins/outs than I should. It makes my blood boil.

Why don't you do something constructive and put in a bill to require the health departments to pay for the vaccine, instead of just joking about it? For once, do something that actually makes sense and benefits the people.

They are giving away free stuff all the time. Why not, instead of giving food stamps and welfare to someone driving an Escalade with 3 iphones and 6 kids by 6 different dads, lets keep that money and pay for something legit, like an accidental exposure to rabies. I seriously think that people who get elected to the legislature must be forced to have a lobotomy before they can start work, because any good sense that they may once have had seems to be immediately flushed down the sewer.

Either give NOTHING away for free, or try to prioritize and do something relatively sensible.

I don't care for those entitlements either, but you sound like a child. "He gets entitlements, so I want some too."

The man took a risk when he went into the woods that he would encounter a wild animal. During that encounter he got bit. It sucks, but he took the risk and suffered the consequences.

I like where you are going. But instead of worrying about the animals, lets put this thought towards the dams. If you and the GA were to pass a bill saying that there couldn't be anymore 1000 year floods in SC, then there is a really good chance that both of us would die and still be convinced that it worked.

Yeah I suspect the pharmacy cost is the least of his worries. Wait until he gets the ER bill.

Hope it works out for you. Insurance is one of the biggest rackets out there, pay for coverage for the "what ifs" and then shit happens and they wont cover it. I know exactly where your coming from brother, My bill was over $22,000 for 4 fucking rabies shots, I don't want any govt assistance either, I just want whats fair, and 22k isn't fair. Just because you have a job and an ability to pay doesn't mean you should have to pay 100 times more for the same service as someone who isn't a productive member of society.

No, I don't want anything for myself. I actually work for a living, (at least two jobs, sometimes 3 for the last 25 years). I pay my bills and I pay for my insurance.
I want less entitlements. My point is that no one intentionally gets bitten by a rabid animal. I would rather pay for that than to pay for some hussy who keeps getting pregnant so she can collect more welfare....that is rewarding an intentional act.

I am good with shutting down all aid to anyone honestly, and people can go to work or starve to death.

This right here. Insurance is a scam. They decide when and how much of something they're going to cover, or they decide that they don't feel like paying for a certain medication anymore and you can use a generic brand that supposedly does the same thing. I've seen too many people here recently who have been told that their prescriptions are no longer covered and that the generic brand is now covered, and start taking the generic brand that doesn't help.

I think the OP would have been better off sticking to his complaint about the insurance company not paying for rabies vaccines, while paying for Viagra, instead of saying that he didn't understand why the state didn't cover these expenses. I agree with his resentment to the insurance company, but I don't think the state should be liable for anyone's medications.
