Hold that thought, we're gonna have a Pet Doctor Forum soon as the admins get a break from their duties.

    Care Credit.

If your vet doesn't take it ask them why not and then tell them to get on in the 21st century with the rest of the grown folk.

Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

Just looked at the website. Is it insurance or a pet credit card?

Never heard of anyone using pet insurance until I joined this forum.

    School me on it.

What makes Care Credit so good?

    I may look into it

Care credit was invented by Lady Gaga and the Devil. It's awesome, but forbidden. Sort of like dancing and fireworks at the superbowl.

Care credit is just like it sounds. It's a credit card for pet dr visits, emergencies etc. If you don't have the cash up front, use the card and pay over time. If I remember correctly, so many days are as good as cash with no interest. I may be wrong though.

You're right. Depending on how much the invoice is you get either 3, 6 or 12 months no interest to pay it off.

Insurance is a scam. Save for emergencies and use CC.

A friend had $10k on a coonhound that dropped dead during a trial and collected after it had a heart attack or some such running said coon.

I have all mine on Pets Best health insurance. 250 deductible and 80% co-insurance. My 4 year old boykin is 37 dollars a month. They swallow one sock and that will cost you 3 grand . My setter got ripped up on a fence several years ago, on Christmas eve. Emergency vet only thing open. 2,500 dollars later, Pets Best paid 1800 of the bill direct deposit into my checking account in 3 days.

It's amazing how much a vet will come off the price when you say "That's too much. Just put her down."

I would be curious to know why you think it is a scam glenn. I know vets who have insurance on their pets... Instead of eating the cost on their own pets emergencies they can actually bill themselves appropriately and then be reimbursed or send them elsewhere for more specialized tx. I have several pets and do not have any insurance on them. I do not feel real strongly one way or the other.

Trupanion is another option... I looked into it for my 10 year old lab (about a year ago when he was 9) and the price is around $80/mo. Wish I would have had it last year when I got a $5K vet bill... That being said, $80/mo is $960/year. I had never had a vet bill over $1400 before. I wouldn't spend $960 a year to protect me from a $1400 vet bill, but it would have been nice for the $5K vet bill... It's really a question of what do you think your chances are of getting an astronomical bill? It's probably much more worth it if your dog is very young and you can get it for $30+ a month.
