    Default Wireless HVAC Thermostats

Anyone have experience with wireless thermostats? I was looking at a mid-range Trane model but then saw where you are required to have Nexia bridge and $9.99/mo app fee while others require Alexa. (Does Alexa have a monthly fee?) What are the options and do they all require monthly fees in order to control through App?

Not sure about Alexa, but I know they don't all have a fee. I have had 2 honeywells thermostats and no fee. Pretty sure there is no fee for the Nest either.

I have a Sensi thermostat. It works with Alexa. No fees to run it.

I control my Nest thermostat with Alexa or the Nest app on my phone.

Or I can use the WEMO app incorporated with IFTTT and create rules.

I like the Nest thermostat. Plus, it knows when you're not there based on motion and/or your phone's physical location so it can go into away mode. You can set the temperature parameters in your app.

You can make things as simple (or complex) as you want when playing with IFTTT.

Have a Honeywell. Downloaded free app on phone and pay no fees. It is connected through wifi at house. No issues so far and had it about six months.

I have a nest and it works fine (unless the wifi goes out) The damn thing thinks it is smarter than me!
