    Default Landscape Rake

How many of y'all have used a landscape rake on a tractor to clear the debris and level dirt out in a food plot?

Have two new spots that have a good bit of debris from bush hogging and just old tree limbs that I want to clear. Instead of over and over with bush hog and same with the disc, was wondering if these are worth the money. Hopefully will use it to level out areas after discing then the cultipacker.

They are fairly inexpensive and may look at purchasing one.

    Thanks

I've used mine pretty much for what you are wanting to used it for. I've even used it to rake my drive way.

Have used one for food plot creation at log deck sites once the debris had been piled and burned. Beats shagging stick which we still did a lot of.

I have one, but prefer using the scarifier to clean up my areas.

Then, when I'm done, I just top dress with the disc and plant.

The scarifier alllows you to pull roots and stuff that are below the surface, but it will still collect sticks and roots on top.

From my experience, they are good for smoothing dirt and rock but that's about it. They will clog up very quickly when dragging grass and limbs. Once the rake clogs up it just slides over top of all the shot you want it to rack. If I were you I would spend some time.removing as much shit. By hand before using the rake.

IMHO - Use a scarifier first and then the rake and you will get the best results with machinery. Turbo is right about the scarifier getting the remaining roots up. Run it until it stops pulling roots and sticks, then use the rake to get the remaining stuff.
Honey...I'll do it after the season is over.

I been using a rake for several years and it wqill load up but you got to know when to dump it. A scarfier would be good to remove roots and large trash but some scum bag stole mine.
