    Default Antler traps

Anyone ever used an antler trap? Did it work?

I'm reluctant to put a bunch of wire up. But was thinking of using some bales of wheat straw, but I've also seen some using bungee cords that looked intriguing.

I was told bungees are better. I have never tried it but was also told that if they arent ready to shed and get hung in the wire that could obviously lead to problems.

You'll probably have just as much luck walking around looking for them as you will using a trap

Ditches and fence crossings are the only places I've found them in the past. And by them I mean 3. So, not exactly wearing them out. I know where they are hanging out. But I don't know where they are going to fall off.

I just googled Pinterest and it said to paint some pallets. I've got them painted like an American Flag. Will let you now if that works.

My luck with finding sheds is nonexistent and I typically take my daughters every year to look...

You would think on a 1000 acres we would atleast find a few...

Seems the squirrels and every other rodent with teeth can make quick work of them...

You need to post up your "pretty good" kills in a few more threads before the end of the week. There may still be some SCDucker who has not seen them yet.

I usually find probably 15 or so a year when I am burning down fields to plant. Soybean and peanut fields are the best. If you have a tractor take it for a spin around and across some fields. Sitting up higher in the sprayer is how I spot them.

I found 8-9 in one day this spring walking, looking for arrowheads in a 30 acre soybean field that had been lightly disked under.

Saw three bucks Wednesday afternoon feeding in the field behind the house. All three still had their head gear. Glad to know one of them made it through the hunting season. With the bucks grouping up, the sheds should come off soon.
