I can't wait to redo my kitchen when we add on to our house. It is going to be a PIA with some of the changes I am going to make but it will be very worth it.

If your wife ever suggests a glasstop range, slap her, the stupid things should be illegal.

The best thing about my kitchen is it is insured by a company that will actually pay claims....just say.

That and island and it is and to the den/living room.

OK. I have and will continue to have an island gas range.

I am not sure I can knock out a wall into my "den" but we are certainly considering it.

I think we are leaning towards one of them fancy fridges Glenn is talking about. We likely will still have a separate ice maker (because we like it) but will move the freezer around the corner, into the laundry room. I cant live without a separate freezer, of some sort. Just not enough room in a conventional fridge/freezer combo for venison and other wild game.

    keep em coming.

42" gas industrial range and direct vent hood. Pull out pot/pan drawers instead of fixed cabinet doors.

Yeah, I'd find a way to properly vent, don't do anything recirculating. You know this though.

I don't like island ranges either. We have a large island with nothing on it, and it is great. It is actually usable countertop for prep, and it works really well when feeding lots of guests as both sides can be used as a serving line. We also went with two separate ovens not together and not on same wall and a separate cooktop. This way we can replace them individually if one happens to die.

Also, you need to get you a magic sink like I've got.

You just throw your stuff in there before you go to bed and in the morning, it's all clean and put away.

    It really is amazing.

my island range had a "pop up" hood. isnt that what you have behind yours, ralph? I like the idea of the overhead vent but not sure I want that visible change in the look of my kitchen.

i definitely want to hide the appliances like you have, HS. I have lots of blenders and mixers and the toaster and Keurig that I dont use often enough...and that's partly because they are put up in a drawer somewhere.

I am going to trick out all the cabinets. I agree with the pull out shelves for pots/pans. If I dont go with the overhead vent, I may have a rack for some cookware above.

Nobody's ever accused HS of having bad taste. Beautiful kitchen.

Yours, too, Turb. How much did that magic sink set you back?

ha. just caught this. I am still working with my agent to discuss this unfortunate turn of events. Its ok. I had given my wife an outdoor kitchen and gazebo for our 20th anniversary. Its just moving INside, instead of poolside.

That's a vent over the top of my range, it's overhead. It's built into, or to look like the cabinets. In my last kitchen I hung my pots. I didn't really dislike it, but I'd hit my head once every couple weeks or so. I'd hang them high enough that you won't hit your head if you have some big shit, but low enough your wife doesn't need a step stool. Another thing about it, you have to keep your pots and pans clean if blemishes bother you. My place ain't really that fancy. I like it though.

    thanks Carolina

My buddies tell me that I'll keep paying for it forever.

I don't notice the difference in my pocketbook too much, I don't reckon.

I really like to pot filler on the wall over the gas range...and the 1200 CFM exhaust that we have over it. It vents to the outside of the house. I can now fry fish and not smell fish for a week.

my range will be on the island. all I have to do is turn around there is my sink.

I want a flat top with my stove. my oven(s) will be separate. I had two ovens. Not sure if we need two. The lower over was storage of sheet pans most of the time, anyway.

i dont know wtf the difference is between "stove" and "range." all I know is mine is gas and there cant be an oven under it....
