    Default Older Truck Review

Looks like I'm going to be in the market for a new to me work/farm/hunting/boat pulling truck. My want's basically lead me from early to mid 2000's F250's and Dodge 2500's...there are a few Chevy 2500's in the range as well but they are not as plentiful. Basic want's are under 150k miles, 4 wheel drive, 4 door and long bed.

Is there anything that I really just need to stay away from?

I realize my wants and budget will put me in a gas truck. I'm perfectly fine with that.

Early to mid 2000's and you want under 150k miles? Not many 10k a year trucks out there.

    Diesel or gas?

Sure there are. You just have to be willing to go get them. I travel from GA to MD, PA, DE quite often so my map is expanded probably a little more than most.

and gas of course. I certainly don't need nor would I want to pay for a diesel truck that is going to see 5k miles a year or less.

I drove clear to Massachus-nutz to buy a truck years ago. If youre set on a particular truck dont compromise. Youll find it.
Cant help ya much more than that as Im not into anything from this century.

Yeah...I'm definitely willing to go get the right truck. Just want to make sure that I'm aware of the certain years of bad apples for each manufacture.

Yup. I'm going to list it for sale tomorrow. It's a 1990 Dodge Power Ram, 4x4, Long bed, single cab. Has been a great truck. Blew the head gasket and I'm not going to fix it as my needs in trucks have changed. I need a little more room now that I have three boys. The o'l single cab is just not going to cut it.

Don't rule out a 1st gen tundra. Only thing it might lack is a long bed. Those 4.6 motors are strong. Just my 2 cents

Just know that any dodge from that era will have a giant hole in the dashboard.

Find an F250/350 with a 7.3 and less than 500K and buy it.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Sounds good and all but I don't want a diesel. I don't want to be that cool. Gas is a lot easier to maintain for very little usage.

I'm aware of the cracked dashes. That doesn't bother me so much.

I like an SUV for what you are describing. The only reason being that most SUVs start there life hauling kids to school and back. Or a sales guy driving the highway. Obviously not having a bed is a draw back. Having a covered bed is really nice too.
