I've really enjoyed my f70. It is a lot better than the 60 I had before.

I'm completely understanding everything Willyworm said about running a 4 blade, but moose you said in the original post that your goal was to go FASTER. you ain't gonna go faster by dropping a pitch to run a 4 blade.

In theory, down... but it's hard to say. There's just too many variables in the equation. If all other things are equal, then you would go down 1 or 2" in pitch when going from 3 to 4 blades. But if your current prop is slipping a lot you may be able to stay with a 12 and rock on. Whatever you do, get the prop from a place that will exchange it for the same thing of a similar pitch. I think Dan's Discount Prop has a liberal exchange policy. Cost like $30 for restocking, but it's helluva lot cheaper than the loss you would likely take trying to sell it.

Also, might wanna try these guys. I hear they're really good at asking questions to help determine what you'll need and also do the exchange thing: Performance Propellers in Tennessee, guy's name is Tim.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

In theory yes you'd lose top end, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that with the amount of slip he's experiencing with his current 3 blade he may very well stand to gain speed.

What's the diameter of your current prop?

There's a lot more that goes into it than just pitch and diameter. Blade geometry has everything to do with everything. Example: I went from a 13x17 black stainless semi clever to a 13x18 power tech stainless with a big ear, rounded style blade. Lost 1000 rpm and couldn't keep the nose down.

Not sure of currently prop diameter, would have to go look. Were you running a 17p prop on a 50hp Yamaha?

Negative. My 60. Phone man ran a 50 on this boat when he had it. At first I ran a Tohatsu 40, but quickly decided to go another route after the 60 crossed my path. It was a deal I couldn't refuse.

Have you tried a stern lifting prop? All your weight in the back of the boat.

I ran a 13pitch powertech on my 50 on willys xpress. It was raised as high as it would go and i still needed a jack plate. It would bump 40 but would hold 38-39 and 35-36 loaded to the gills. It would break your neck when you hammered on it. Another rig i should have never sold.

    F70,6500 rpm, 2.33 gear, 16p, and 47mph is about -11 prop slip.

So, it would have to push more water than it grabs. I suppose it could happen.
