Default Tractor loader bucket cutting wedge/edge

A friend has a root rake on his tractor and he welded a piece of steel cut into a v shape between the center tines. The inside of the v is cut at an angle to be "sharp". When bush hogging he can drive up to tree and cut it off by running into it. Cuts low enough for the bush hog to get over it.

I have a loader and don't need a root rake, is there an attachment that I can buy that would bolt onto my loader bucket to do something similar?

Picture of his set up? Sounds like he made his own "KG blade" for his tractor.

sounds like there is no way it can handle much of a stump.

The idea is to not have to get off the tractor when bush hogging. Good for small trees too large for the bush hog.

I think he's talking about little stuff, saplings and such.

Exactly. Stuff too big for the mower but not so big as you need a chainsaw. Also faster than using a loader bucket to dig it out.

I've asked him for a picture.

Maybe I'll see if he can make me one to bolt onto my loader bucket that would extend out a bit. I don't want to weld it on since it would be in the way for any loader work.

    I like that...

I may have to make me one here directly.

My loader bucket has holes all the way across for a tooth bar. If yours doesn't have these holes, you'll either have to weld it on or drill holes in the leading edge.

    Simple idea but it works.

Welding it and it'd be in the way. Looks like I'll have to drill holes.

Good idea but seems like it would pinch the tree and pull the stump. A saw blade type attachment would cut the stump off.

That thing kind of defeats the purpose of not having to stop. It also isn't used to fell trees, just saplings and such.

Also a piece of flat steel would be cheaper than that thing.

that thing would suck for my tractor. Having to clutch and change gears to cut down the tree.

What size "tree, sapling etc" we talking here? under 1 1/4" tree gets bush hogged, 1 1/4" up to 3 gets pushed up stump and all. Chainsaw the rest and get backhoe if I am worried about the stump.
