    Default TV antenna

I want to get one for the playoffs and the Superbowl.

What's my cheapest and best option?

    Is this all I need?

1byone Amplified HDTV Antenna - 50 Mile Range with Detachable Amplifier USB Power Supply and 10ft Coax Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IF70T4M..._QCwFybRZ0Y977

I have one of those that you linked and to be honest it sucks. My next one will be like USMC linked below.

I wonder how many on here remember "rabbit ears" with foil wadded up on the end of them. Or if one broke, sticking a hanger down in it.

We've come along way. I remember how proud my dad was when he got a motorized mount for the antenna. I was too since it was normally me outside turning it until he said to stop.

How about being the person that had to adjust the antennas. You finally hit the right spot, and everyone would start yelling to stop. Or as soon as you got a good picture, and sat back down, it would get fuzzy again.

Tell me more about this. I have Dish now and I despise the $100/month. We cut cable when football season goes out and get is back for 2 years in Sept. This sounds great but So much football is on ESPN....

How many channels do you get with this thing?

Amplified antennas don't get better reception, they only amplify the signal between the antenna and TV. The antenna you need depends on the stations you are trying to pick up and there are no such things as HD antennas. There's a website you can go on which I believe is antennaweb.org or something like that which you can look up what frequencies you're trying to receive.

Go here and put in your info, then you can get a recommended antenna.

You can also read here until you're blue in the face, but a good resource

It's all about where you are in relation to the transmitting towers you're trying to tune in. The ABC tower was 55 miles from my house so I had to get a directional antenna and mount it in the attic. Signal still cuts out when you turn on certain appliances. That $40 investment saves me $70/month so it's well worth it. The best part is I find us watching less TV.

I've tried several and the one quoted by me is the best I've used.

So I have learned to trust USMC on everything he recommends tech-related. I bought a bunch of flashlights and have helped the Chinese move 200 or so more. That said, I cut out Dish Feb 1st and plugged up my trusty "when the satellite goes out" antenna. Picked up 8 channels: NBC ABC CBS MeTV, and some a couple others.

I spent 15 min hooking the one in the link up and went from 8 to 17 channels. Picked up Fox, which the Super Bowl is on currently and a Kid channel and some PBS channels the kiddos like.

Thanks USMC, you know you're stuff my man.

I took a ladder to my roof, then got on an additional ladder...

Had to do some fine tuning for all the folks coming over.
