Paper is the old school way. It cost me a bass about 10 years ago, never again.

A bass is not a bird... Couldnt tell you what do do w a fish (but I probably would not have recommended you use paper on it had you of asked for advice before you screwed yours up) other than take measurements and get it made like most everyone else does these days. I also assume you dont tuck your Bass's head under one of its wings either, I mean fins.

I had no clue such things even existed! Glad you got your bird.

On another note, next time kayakkillshits devides to talk about killing tons of birds, someone needs to let him see this thread

Sorry you got butt hurt over me making a simple comment. A taxidermist recommended the bad in newspaper. Quit dicking up this man's thread about a nice duck, and worry about getting your head out your ass.

Never knew they would do that for identity. Glad it worked out for you!

Swamp, perhaps you place your head in your ass before you are mounted. He asked what ppl do to take a bird to a taxidermist. If loosely wrapping the bird in newspaper is incorrect I would love to know why. Never had an issue this way. The bird is cool. It is a nasal saddle. Generally speaking, noticeably tagging birds this way increases the likelihood of them becoming a target.

Actually, Shane as well as the guy in the Wildfowl article strongly suggest you NOT wrap a bird in paper!

That's pretty cool Scott. I'm glad your mounting it. It'd be pretty cumbersome, and it'd probably find a way to poke you on your lanyard.

    DO NOT wrap in paper!

Cali, just fold the head over on its back, or tuck it under its wing. Slide it in a gallon size ziploc bag and seal it closed. Make sure to get as much air out as possible.

That's all you need to do unless you don't plan to send it off for a while.

Paper causes it to freezer burn faster.

I remember your theory that they make their way towards us. Have you seen any data to support?

Very cool. Only second one with nassel saddle I know of killed in SC. NO news paper. Plastic then news paper for insulation if your not taking to taxidermist soon.

I find it's best to completely submerge in water and freeze in a block. This prevents freezer burn.

    Don't do this.
