Default Too Many Decoys, if that's even possible.

I have a ton of decoys that never see the water and just take up space in the garage. I will be thinning the herd after the season. I often find myself using the same bag with the same dozen blocks. Some days only 3 or 4 will be put out, other days I might use more than a dozen.

The question for you all is what species and quantity should a man keep on hand for a season of SC duck hunting? If you start with early teal season and go all the way through January, how many and what species would be in your spread? In any given year, we may hunt a coastal marsh, a lowcountry swamp, an upstate beaver pond, and a river or two.

It's not possible. Might as well hold on to them all.

I'm not a " one species fits all" kinda guy. I try to mimic where and how the real birds sit. If I'm on the coast I'll use teal, wigeon, black ducks and gadwall. Any other time I'll use various combinations of the above mentioned, plus wood ducks, ringnecks, coots, and bluebills, depending on where I'm hunting.

Rarely use mallard decoys, but when I do I pull out the 4 or 5 old corks I have. Love those decoys.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

    Agreed.

I don't have a thousand, but I've got enough to make it happen, be it scaup or pintails.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

Same here, from corks to plastics, I've got it covered. Yet, I haven't put out more than 15 decoys the past three years. Today was, 3 blacks, 6 wood ducks, 2 teal and a pintail.

Keep down sizing boys. Makes it way easier to pull birds off of you
Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.
