Default SCDNR Wood Duck Box Program

I applied for some wood duck boxes through the SCDNR program back in October and just wanted to see if anyone who also applied last year has heard from them?

Two years ago I applied and got 4 but they weren't distributed until March. I applied again this year but have not heard anything. I doubt we will have these in time for nesting season this year.

Cool, thanks for the info. Also, while it is certainly optimal to have them up and ready now (In January) even if you don't get them out until March, wood ducks will often make multiple nesting attempts which can go into summer so they may still be utilized.

Here are the links, they don't have the option up right now to apply (for 2018) but it should be up sometime next fall.

I know a guy that had the carpentry shop, at the local high school, make him 6-8. I think he supplied some pre-cut cypress for them to use.

I believe 4 is the max you can apply for per year. If you need more maybe have a buddy apply too.

When I got some from DNR a few years ago it was after the season before they came in. I want to say like Late Feb.-Early March.

I've got one. (not from SCDNR). If someone wants to pick it up in Cross Hill, shoot me a PM.

It's in a storage building, so it will be a couple of weeks before I pick it up....

Got my email today saying my application had been received, but there was a delay in construction of the boxes. There is no timeline for completion.

I guess they are built in the jail. I offered to organize a work force. Waiting to hear back.
