Whats the real repair for this. Wives 07 Suburban has 230k and lifter has been ticking since around 100k. Getting much worse. Sometimes I can hear it while driving. Car is in great shape otherwise but due to milage isn't worth anything if I sold it. Uses a quart every 2k miles. What is ballpark to replace engine and is there a better option than straight replacement and DOD delete?

I was under the impression that they didn't start having these issues till 2008 (I could be wrong though). I'd say if you've got 230k on it, you are not going to have this same issue.

Yep...the 2007 classics are really 2006s but made in 2007 with all the parts they had left from 2006. But its nice bc they used the old motors with out DOD

Had mine act up recently... Started cutting out at 45/50 mph when you put a little load on it. Thought it was the transmission- took it in and my transmission guy (awesome service - Coastal in Beaufort) told me it may be a bad coil or injector. 238k after upper half rebuild under warranty for oil burn at 95k.

I named her 300 when she hit 200K. Told my wife she had to go to 300K before we would replace so she better start speaking another 100K into her. Hopefully we're our way now!

What are the years to avoid? If you had one with DOD and it had less than 100k miles, would the delete give it good odds of lasting a while?

Resurrecting an old thread I know, but IF a push rod bends, something upstream has happened correct? No fire on cylinder #6, 6.2 Denali, 2015. Dealer tech says it is not the coil or plug or wire, "may be a bent push rod from a little valve spring". To me that means the valve stuck open and the cylinder top slammed into the valve and wrecked the rod. So most likely another problem, a bent rod, scarred piston top, bent valve, and tweaked lifter? Maybe a little cam damage to boot? They are to look into it tomorrow. Opinions welcomed.

This is from a 6.2 direct injection like you have. Good chance it’s an AFM lifter issue

That picture was also a failure from an engine with AFM disabled since brand new. Those lifters CAN still fail even with everything disabled
