What about hogs and your mineral spots? Is that an issue?

I'm truly blessed in that in my immediate area we do not have large quantities of the pest. Ever time I get a group we annihilate the bastards with prejudice.

Paging Mergie. and Santee 11 I will probably ride south early am if any one wants to get in on kill for pigs got a call this am. Margie you will need to stay a few days for this. S11 I'll be in your back yard.

So I can't say. We have never had them so thick it made a difference. I love to kill them, hate them eating my deer grub!

Lets face it we are deer farming not hunting any more. I get way more excited about a 80lbs doe in front of 20 screaming walker hounds than I ever will one of the trophies I've personally been responsible for growing. Yes, I said that in response to Duck Cutter.
I got to give it to you, you seem to be the real deal when it come to this stuff. Not just "talking the talk" but you "walk the walk". I respect that.

I just know a lot of people who talk about it but don't actually do it and that's what puts a bad taste in my mouth for it.

Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

I'm with you sw338. I spend way too much money on tractors, equipment, lime, fertilizer, protein, minerals, etc....I love to hunt and kill deer just as much as the next guy but I would say I'm more passionate about the farming for wildlife aspect of it than I am the actual hunting. I'm at my place every weekend starting in June making habitat improvements, working on food plots, running trail cams and stuff like that. My trail camera obsession has gotten a little out of control. I'm going this weekend to pull all of my cameras(if I can remember where I hung them all) and I will likely have close to 50 cameras.

    June?
LoL I pray for January 1 to get here so my heard can live another year. lol

Seriously there are a few on here who will tell you that is exactly what I say.

I hate to see October through Jan 1. August usually takes dedicated folks, after the first 3 days. Until October I'm good. At that point some of my youngins start to roam an I get nervous!
But June? Really. I'd have to check the time stamps on that I figured you for a all year guy.
I started an I never stop now. There is always something to do.
If nothing else but put midgets in the stand to keep Griffin away!

If you kill a basket 8 it will cost your 500$ no if an or butts about it.
And just for the threat Brown is down to come visit with out you! LOL
Strick9 is trying to get me to write a book.

I've paid my dues I'll leave out at that.

I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I've learned a lot along the way. It has truly been a humbling experience.

I run trail cameras on mineral stations, protein stations and random trails as soon as the season is over. And trust me it works. Me and the other 2 members on my place are blessed to kill several really nice deer off of our place every year and trust me it isn't because we are better hunters than they next man but when you are willing to put it the time, work and money and practice some trigger control it really makes it easier. You can't kill the big ones if you can't grow them. And what pleases me the most about the deer we are able to take is that our property is 95% pine monoculture. So that proves that when we are able to grow big deer it is a direct reflection on the work we are putting in.

As far as all year, trust me, if I didn't live an hour away from my place and have two kids under 3 years old I would be down there working every weekend. But that being said, my wife knows that when June rolls around, I will likely be at my place getting ready for the season

Don't have a ton of time to post too much this am. But here is a buck using a site just done yesterday. He loves the stuff like candy. He had been traveling almost 800 yards (both ways) a night to go eat out of a bucket that still had some left then would come back to this field to feed all night on the food plot..Crap load of smaller bucks and does too. But here for your viewing pleasure. Great potential!

SW338 - I was able to source all my minerals locally.

I plan on setting up 2 new mineral sites and will keep cameras on them to monitor activity.

    Thanks again for the info!
