I am looking for a headlamp that that has a lot of lumens and a long beam to reach out to 18', which is the tip of my longest rod. Give me some suggestions and my price is $100 or less.

I got this one for Christmas. Is really bright. Not sure how long the charge will last, because I haven't used it much.

Nitecore hc90. 900 lumens but u can adjust it from zero to 900 with the sliding selector switch. Also has red green and blue. Everyone I've showed it to has gotten one or the step down which I think is 600 lumens.

Cant beat it for the price. Waterproof. Uses AAA batteries. 200 lumen spot and a lesser flood mode.

For 50 bucks I got a southern lite led one. They advertise it to be around 1000 lumens

I got a Browning and it's great except it eats batteries as fast as I can feed it.

I've had a Black Diamond ReVolt for a while. I had a slight issue with it. I contacted their CS about it and had a brand new one on my doorstep in two days. Great folks.

It can use AAA batteries or its rechargeable with the supplied lithium cells via a micro USB port on the side. It has spot, flood, red, and strobe, and is fully dimmable. I'm pretty sure it's waterproof. I've submerged mine in saltwater multiple times and it's still ticking. It's not the brightest, but I'd bet it would fit your needs.

You can get them for as little as 20 bucks or so at REI or si I.ar store for what you're talking about. I've had good luck with the black diamond mentioned above. You can buy the brightest one they have with spot flood combo strobe red and green for less than 100. It dims too so you can choose level of brightness. I keep a cheaper one in my truck at all times.

I agree that your should choose a known brand such as Black Diamond, Petzl, or Princeton among others. Very high lumens will eat batteries, there is no way around it.

I have one of the Black Diamond Spots mentioned above. I like it. Has the option of a red light so you don't kill your night vision. I don't care for rechargeable ones since you can't just switch the batteries out when it dies.

This one has been amazing so far. Only my first season with it. The only light I've been carrying on boat etc.

If you want a good flashlight, you gotta buy a streamlight or a surefire. I'd buy the streamlight pro tac head lamp. I've got one. It's extremely durable and waterproof. You will not be disappointed

He's only trying to see his rod tips on 18 foot rods at night, so battery life and moderate power should be the focus I would think.

The ReVolt uses three AAA cells. You can use the rechargeable batteries provided or swap to regular AAAs if you need to. I've used mine all night gigging and it didn't die.

I got my hands on a sample a Pelican from a sales rep. It's a damn good one. Got the battery pack that sits at the back of the head with 4AA batteries in it. O-rings sealed and waterproof. It's a nice bright light.
