    Default scared of the dark

ok obviously we have some hunters that are scared of the dark in our club all of a sudden.

what I mean is people coming out of stands way earlier than they should in the evening. so new rule will have to be created to prevent this from happening I guess.

    so my question is this.

would it be out of the way if our club implements a new rule that states you must remain at your designated parking area for chosen stand until legal shooting time has expired before driving to sign in shed?

or maybe 45 min after sunset before you can leave your designated parking area for chosen stand.

    what are your opinions?

Thats a pain in the ass for sure, but I have probably killed a dozen deer that I otherwise would have not, due to being "pushed" by some dumbass leaving his stand 30 minutes before sunset.

That's defiantly a bull shit rule. If I were in your club I would not be in the future. There are several times this year I hunted from 12 to 5.

I don't think these are the answers he was hoping for.

Have you tried talking to them about this?
Seems like it would be easier to ask them not to drive around if someone is hunting that area than to create and enforce a questionable rule.

Just tell them that if they decide to leave early, that they need to find a way to do it without going past another hunter. Or keep a 300 yd buffer when leaving.

Telling someone when they can or can't leave isn't going to work.

Or quit putting your stand on the road so they don't have to drive by you

No kidding. If you hunt that close to a road what do you expect to happen?

Why is it any of your business what time I leave? This, IMO, is a crazy stupid rule. You think a rule should be created because YOU think people should sit a stand longer, or till a certain time? If a vehicle leaving is scaring deer, that seems like a separate problem, (too close to rd).

    Stupid rule.

I agree with the rest of the replies concerning it to be a stupid rule. I would have a problem with someone just ridding the roads, but telling them that they have to sit until a certain time is asinine.

Yep, if you hunt roads, expect to see vehicles.

There is nothing wrong with hunting roads on a property but if you have limited ingress and egress throughout a property this needs to be considered!
I don't think telling club members they have to stay put until dark no matter what is the answer.
Moving stands off primary roads seems to be a better solution.....IMO
