    Default Tamie hunt

Ok so you have a buddy/co- worker and he puts in for a hunt at tamie "plantation" at a United Way fundraiser. The buddy/co worker mentioned wins the raffle and then invites you to go at no cost. Do you go? I always said I would never participate or step foot on one of these places and in 20 years I haven't but the more I think about it the more free meat sounds better. Don't want to get into the ethics of these tamie establishments but just if you would or wouldn't go.

Would you tangle with a lady of the night your friend hired for the evening for every one to have a turn? Probably not....

Do we need to set up a fundraiser to get you some meat? I am sure PBiz has an extra 4 point laying around.

I would not go. I have been invited to multiple kick and shoot quail "hunts". For some reason, I'm always busy with something else...

Whoa now, quail are a different proposition entirely.

As far as the tamie ducks go.....
I took a guy duck hunting a while back and told him where we were going would mostly be a woodie hole but I had seen a group of mallards in there as well and that I would love get a chance at them. He started telling me how "they got into some mallards one time and they slaughtered than and had them stacked like cordwood on the tailgate". Come to find out at the end of the story it was a tamie hunt.
I got no major problem with it if somebody wants to kill them, just don't go bragging about it afterwards like you really did something special

I've gone on a few invitation tamie shoots. I love shooting anything airborne but shooting tamie ducks is a lot like kissing your sister...it's vaguely similar to the real thing but the thrill just isn't there.

I regularly shoot tamie quail. There's no other way to keep a bird dog trained here in SC. Quail don't migrate or live long enough to interbreed with wild birds. Wild birds are so rare, I'd feel bad about shooting them around my place.

Obviously you never hunted wild birds.

I've shot at a handful over the years.

A pebraised bird is nothing like shooting at a wild bird, but there are very few wild birds left in our area
