Indiana. Moved from Columbia in 12. Not a great place for ducks by Midwest standards, but for a southern boy who rarely scratched a 2 woodie limit whilst swatting mosquitoes on the Lynches, it seems like prime-time Arkansas to me.

Although I would prefer a bigger hole, it can, will, and has worked. A rake is a wise investment if you can't break the ice into large enough sections to submerge and slide it under the existing ice. You can take a decoy sled and rake the leftover pieces into it and dump in on the bank.

You're not going to decoy 25 plus birds into that hole obviously, but singles and pairs should die. The biggest factor is the unnatural look of ice chunks in the hole.

Ice is a love / hate relationship. However, the effort you put into doing things right usually results in some damn fine memories.

My son and I pulled over on the way to church to watch 100+ circling and diving into a pond 50 yards off the bypass. Commercial operation owns it. Going to ask...can't hurt. Folks with mid-size ponds with a little depth like the one in that pic are sitting pretty this year.
