    Default Pups first retrieve

Got franklin out for his 2nd duck Hunt. 1st one was a bust. He did really well, whined a bit when he would see ducks circling, but overall not to bad. His first retrieve was a beautiful gwt in some nasty thick burs. 2nd was a hen bufflehead in open water. He marked well, and did pretty good. I spent the next 3 hours picking burrs and stickers out of him.

It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. That is one duck hole you do not have to worry about me trying to find.

Catch me on the right day, and I'd be liable to give you this one. Kidding if course, doubt I'll ever own another breed.
