What's the deal with these flying around now? And what good are they doing at night?

No shit Sherlock...
Drones are the new black helicopters
I'm just wondering what the hell they could they be observing in black dark
I assume you mean personal drones? Probably just people that bought them for Christmas and trying them out. And just taking video/pics of the lights. I don't know. I'm reminded everyday I don't understand people.
Or back to the black helicopters, they can mount different types of cameras to them. Some can do thermal imaging. I doubt they work well in the city, but I've seen them being advertised for crop monitoring and I'm sure if you have the money the technology is out there.
Oh, then I'd be right there with you. More than one or just the one? I'd guess its your neighbor, but you can bet I would make sure I let my neighbor know before I flew over his farm. Check that. I would ask. They only have a flight time of 25-30 minutes so shouldn't be that hard to see where it goes back to.
Or shoot it and see if it has a tag on it.
I'm intrigued by drones and I see a ton of worthwhile applications, but its going to be really interesting to see the conflicts between them and landowners in the future. $400 drones and idiots don't mix well. There will be alot more conflicts with them after this Christmas. And like someone else said, there might be a few that are mistaken for ducks this duck season.
I'm getting one early next year, but it's going to be limited to use over the land we hunt or public areas where appropriate.

I've always wanted to use one to illustrate to hunting buddies how terrible they are at hiding
Turkey hunters best friend follow them straight to the roost. Hell with thermal imaging you can tell where all your animals on your property. If antlers only showed up.
Wait a minute, Tee's first name is Sherlock? I'll be damn.

Suicide is never a good thing but I understand.
Thank you for your service to our nation.
yup Sherlock Tee. I flew mine around the neighbors fields one night. There was beer.I think it was for the lights man , those little blinking lights.
We gave you Corn, you gave us clap, bad trade.
One can only hope that they were using them to track and shoot pit bulls.
I went to a meeting that discussed a state that prevented drones used for scouting /hunting purposes on public lands in exchange for preventing the anti's from using them to scare game away from hunters.
Should I introduce legislation offering this on state lands? WMA's? Private?
Either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing.
