Default Report card just came back.....

Had a physical done two weeks ago....results posted to my doc's app a week later.

I'm not where I plan on getting to.....but I'm a sight more healthy than I was a year ago. The cholesterol numbers from before were insanely high. Cutting out sugars and refined carbs....eating mostly Paleo now....still have Splenda with my coffee......gotta get off that next.

    Getting there.

Haven't had a soda....regular or diet in 18 months +. That alone seemed like an impossible act back then....turned out to be easy. I was a Diet Dew freak, too. Done.

Water, coffee and occasional margarita or Tito's and cranberry.

Exercise has been on and off due to knee and shoulder issues. Lifting and cardio as I can.

    Nice.

I need to reign myself back in a little. Thank you for the reminder.

Shit i'm 26 and have high cholesterol. Ate right, exercised, and got on a statin for a year. Year checkup my blood work came back my liver enzymes were high and my cholesterol was still high. Quit taking the statin and just continued eating healthy and exercising. Went back in 3 months cholesterol was still high. I've basically said fuck it these last two months. It's damn if i do and damn if i don't. I'm going to try to get a appt with a specialist here in a few weeks,

It is part hereditary. Ideally exercise and diet will get you right, but if not there are tons of other drugs that don't have the side affect of elevated liver enzyme.

There's a lot of research going on right now concerning cholesterol. New studies support the notion that cholesterol levels are not directly related to heart issues. There are bad types of cholesterol and good. And there are subsets of the bad that are worse than just the bad. And the bad can be ok if the good is good. It's all confusing shit. But you need cholesterol in your body. Statins are pushed by the pharmaceutical machine. I'd rather take my chances with the cholesterol than with the statins.

Exercise. Lay off the processed shit. And try to smile more often.

It's tuff. I've been lifting 5 days a week now for about 4 months. Had blood work the other day and all was great except sugar. Still high. Don't get it.

    Thanks.

It's been a wild ride. I've lost a heap of weight this past year thanks to a back injury. That pain was unlike anything I've ever experienced. It knocked my dick outa my watch pocket and put my fat ass on the ground.

I was sporting a BMI of well over 50.

Back surgeon suggested weight loss surgery first and said back would heal itself. I proceeded and had gastric sleeve surgery in October 2015. BMI is now mid 30's.

Funny thing is that my knees are still shot even with a large chunk of the weight off even though my back is much improved.

    I'll keep pushing on.

The sleeve allows me to eat any type of food....i just stick to a mainly Paleo approach now and the results have been showing up on these "report cards". Have been free of all medications for the past 6 months with the exception of a prescription NSAID for blown out knees and shoulder. Doc shot each up last week and said, at 48, that I'm overdue for replacements in each. I'm getting second opinions and see where it leads.

At least the organs are sound and I'll be around to enjoy wearing out the new knees and shoulder doing some fun shit.

Life sure got better once I got the hell outa my own way.

Just had three eggs with jalapeños for breakfast. Some kale with a few peanuts and cold pork tenderloin slices will be my dinner later. Kale has a flavor that I really like. I never realized a salad green would be something that I enjoyed. Grateful for it.

Have a couple honeycrisp apples in the fridge for snacks over the next two days. Those things are better than any cake or candy I've ever had. Fruit really is a gift.

I have hereditary high cholesterol. Not much I can do besides take medication which works ok for several years and then stops working. Then, I have to switch to the latest thing that will work for a while. Just a cycle that I live with. I don't think my total cholesterol has been less than 300 since I was 27 yrs old. LDLs (bad) are always way high. Unmedicated, I climb to over 600. Diet nor exercise helps me, at all.
Good on y'all for getting it together!
