Default Dove hunting before/after a hurricane

I'm on vacation this week down at the deer lease, and shot a good buck earlier in the week so I'm thinking about heading home to try a dove hunt Saturday or Sunday (upstate). I know a lot can change weather wise, but this mornings forecast for us is 20 mph winds and 20% chance in rain on Saturday. How do y'all think the cooler temps, rain, and high wind will affect the birds? It's a very small field but we had our best hunt ever last Saturday and left them flying. I know tropical storms normally push birds out, but with Matthew coming from the south and going west, I may foolishly be thinking it'll push birds our way. Any experience in these conditions, because mine are limited to the 90 degrees of opening weekend! I know many are going to say just hunt and what happens, happens, but I'm a couple of hours away and don't want to waste my friends time if y'all are pretty certain it'll be a bust.

They'll be flying faster than usual. I'd hunt it.

i would just hunt it and see what happens. (and yes, I realize what I did there) Unless you would rather stay and deer hunt.

I dont think there is any way in hell to predict an october dove unless you have had them all season long...and even then, those bitches can up and leave for no reason.

or they can up and COME for the same unknown reason.

Good by my standards. Nothing like the brutes posted on here. Still, it's my best with the muzzle loader.

This land is 90% thinned out pines, so the thought of sitting in a pine tree with 20 mph sustained winds and who knows how bad gusting isn't my idea of fun, so I do have that persuading me to dove hunt. I would've considered it sacrilegious to do anything other than deer hunt while the season was open a year ago, but I sure do love running the three legged dog. And that's another thing. I don't really want her to have learn the let down of a crappy hunt at such a young age.

I don't really care to hunt in pines. I'd go hunt with my dog. How is your rice and millet doing?

Haven't been able to go check it. The guys that deer hunt it asked us to stay out since late August so we don't disturb the deer. It's killing me not knowing. We've been in a real bad drought so I'm not sure how it's fairing.

I agree with this! Hunting with your dog will be way better than sitting in a tree along.

I agree. I'd go shoot birds.

But you should try to change your screen name. That's just a little creepy. Kinda like a clown in the woods or something.

No worries! No gate on it. But you'd have to give a tearful apology to the cripple if you shot any and she wasn't there. I couldn't dare wish that amount of torment on my worst enemy, so I'll keep that burden off your shoulders!
