    Default Hurricane Matthew

Don't know much about tracking hurricanes, but it looks like this one could hit us pretty good with rain and wind. Possibility of it hitting us square in the mouth. Read something about preparing for one earlier this morning and it got my mind going. What plans are y'all making? I have water on hand, fuel, and solar battery charger I can steal from the boat. Going to hit the ATM on the way home from work and grab a little cash to have on hand just in case. Of course it is Monday and I just don't know how much I trust a weatherman... I guess I may be over reacting, but I'd like to be a little ahead of the game if things did turn for the worse.

A front that is coming through is supposed to keep it 300 miles offshore. Doesn't look good for the OBX though

Carry good insurance and get the fuck out of dodge if anything more than a 1 is going to hit.

That is the problem.. I can't get outta dodge.. I'm essential personnel at work and have to stay in Mt. P.. I will get the family out, but in the event there is ever a major storm I'm stuck here..

This thing is moving slow and the time lines to reach us keep getting pushed back. So I'd like to hope it stays offshore but we still gotta a whole lotta waiting around to do before anyone can be sure.

Fire up the generator. Get some extra gas. Charcoal for the grill. Water. Food.

And I just cut the one tree down that could have caused issues last week.

I just got back from a little prepping myself. Some gas cans & propane topped off. Hopefully it blows away from here.

I think everybody will get some rain, and then some.

It is still early but the most recent models are starting to show a more westerly track due to a stronger than anticipated area of high pressure in the Atlantic. Showing a landfall sometime Saturday near SC/NC border then it rides the coast up to the OBX. Push play button at the top of the model to see the projected path. Also, pressure is showing approximately 932mb near landfall. Hugo was around 935mb when it made landfall.

European Model shows a slightly less westerly track:

I'm leaving for jamaica thursday. Every model I see looks like jamaica will get alot of rain but the big portion of the storm is heading towards Haiti then Cuba. Good thing were staying on the western side of the island.

There's a new invest with a 50% chance of becoming the next named system east of Matthew that could possibly push Matthew more to the west as well as a pressure system. Timing will be everything with this one.
