I don't know this wives tale. What is a persimmon seed supposed to tell you?
something about a spoon, fork, and knife, but i can't remember what each shape means
Spoon is snow, and a knife is windy and cold I believe.... May be totally off. I have not thought about that since my uncle showed me that 25 years ago.
Is that kind of like the one about if a queer sees his shadow, you get six more weeks of Spoleto?
Can't be less accurate than weather.com
SPOON...Is what the seed showed....gonna be digging out snow....
Spoon
If the kernel is spoon-shaped, lots of heavy, wet snow will fall. Spoon = shovel!
If it is fork-shaped, you can expect powdery, light snow and a mild winter.
If the kernel is knife-shaped, expect to be “cut” by icy, cutting winds.

Open two today. Both had spoons as well
Are you guys digging thru coyote turds to find the persimmon seeds?
I always heard the "processed" seeds are the most accurate ones for that old wives tale.
Has anyone studied if there is a difference in the age of the seeds, or the tree itself, as to which pattern one gets?
I opened three last week and all were "almost" spoons. It also changed if I sliced the seed slightly differently.
If nothing else, it's great folklore.
