We had a female growing up that had a litter and we kept one of the females. Well at about 6mo old she growled at my dad when he put her bowl down and then decided to move it he smacked the shit out of her and sent her to the other side of the garage. Well a week or two later he was out of town and I had to feed them, she did it to me before i even got the bowl on the ground and in return she got the same deal. She didnt do it again. Im with the others saying it probably should have been addressed the first time he did it.

IMO, your best bet is to let it happen again, but instead of backing down from him, snatched his ass up and toss him down. He won't expect it, having never gotten a reaction like that from you before. Once he's down on his side, lay a knee on his chest and pin his neck to the floor with your fingers on his throat (like teeth). Hold him down until he quits resisting the slightest bit.

It'd be a good idea to make sure your old lady isn't uome, because he'll probably sound like you're killing him out of fear if he isn't a fighter.

If it persists, do it every time you encounter the slightest bit of aggression. The point is to put the fear of God in him. Whatever you do, don't let him win, not even once.

It isn't the end of the world, he's just testing you. It's what dogs do, just like teenagers.

Agreed. I wouldn't say it's too late. You should be able to teach him that the behavior isn't acceptable.

But if it continues after that then you have to think about your kid. Id also watch to make sure that he doesn't start to respect you but not anyone else.

You might want to take note to not hang out with that guy then.
