Well, we had a good time at Cooper Black this weekend. The weather was cool in the am and warmed up for the afternoon water series. DM# 1 and Skyler, HuntinCosta and Costa and I with Chic all got passes in Senior on Saturday. DM #1 and I ran in Senior again on Sunday while Huntcosta shot the live flyers for the senior test. Haven't heard yet if we passed on Sunday, but should hear later today. I think it went well. Just can't get a break on a Master test with Doc. If he doesn't mess up I do. It was my turn Saturday. After he pretty well aced the first series, stepping on the 3 marks, lined the right blind, and 2 whistled the left blind, I went to the second series, land - water, hopeful. 1st memory mark was on land to the left of Mallard stick pond across the road and the go bird was in the edge of the open water pond. Line to the go bird was 40 yds to water, across 25 yards of corner of stick pond, across the dam/road and 30 yds of open water, to the bank where the mark landed at the edge. The first thing was Doc decided to go for the memory bird 1st. That should have cued me to a problem but I didn't figure it out until too late. After his return I gave him a line thru the edge of the stick pond and sent him. He proceeded to cheat the bank to the road and across the dam to the far bank, down the bank and to the bird. The only thing he got wet was his front paws and his nose. I sat there in a daze instead of handling him thru the stick pond to the mark. I was clean in the first series and had a handle to burn. I hate having to learn the hard way, but I guess I won't ever do that again. We'll try again in the fall.
