IMO, the harness is a hindrance in a face the tree stand. it hooks to your back and then has to come around in front of you to hook to the tree. So its just all in the way.

I don't either. I have good health insurance and life insurance.

I wear one in a lock on though. I don't like the idea of being cantilevered in a stand with my back to a tree, not being able to grab ahold of it if needed.

as with any two piece stand you better keep that top and bottom tied together.

I learned that lesson the hard way when I was a teenager. Shimmying 25 feet down a pine tree when you lose the foot piece will teach you real quick to tie them together.

Also better make sure the rope you use to tie them together isn't longer than your feet will reach. Learned that lesson the hard way too.

Ordered one from buckhorn outdoors today, they said it will ship tomorrow.I got the cadillac model. The lady you talk to is really nice. They also carry parts for the old buckshots.Called Austin and canceled my order with them, hope I have better luck with this company.

I had it happen to me twice, the first time I used the climber after buying it I took the rope off because it wasn't the right length for me. I shimmied down that time and walked the bottom piece back up. The second time I actually was in the tree and untied the rope to readjust it when the bottom fell down. I stood on the top piece and used it as a bottom to walk down.

Yep to all. I've always felt more secure facing the tree.

Please let us know how that works out. I'll get my replacement parts from them if so.

This. Facing out is very uncomfortable to me...I've used both but my preference is facing the tree. I'm still using an old Buckshot that my dad has had since I was a kid.

and yes, I learned the 'make sure your foot rest is attached' lesson. However, it was in my parents back yard so I just wanted the hour or so until my dad got home. Could have been much worse.

I learned that lesson 30ft up while hunting on an island and had no cell service. It was a long sit until my dad came looking for me.

It was also with a buckshot climber.

I have (2) tomcats and (2) tomcat ll . They are easy to get on the tree, lite enough to carry long distance. And facing the tree is more relaxing from a safety standpoint then sitting with back to tree. And YES make sure you have them connected in some way, everybody thinks they are bulletproof but a climber of any make and model will kill us.

Did anybody ever order from that buvk horn website for buckshot stands? I ordered parts from Austin for my older bigshot buckshot. Like Swamp Rat said, mine didnt fit either. I would love for this other place to work out. Dang nice stands
