    Default Digital Thermometer

Looking for a good digital thermometer that will measure grill/smoker temp and meet temp at the same time. Preferably remote but doesn't have to be. Whats a good one you use?

i have this right here. It isnt remote, but on a long cook, it doesnt need to be. They have remote models on the site.

I'm pretty sure this only monitors food temp. I'm looking for one to monitor both.

Maverick by far is the best. 732 or 733 it doesn't really matter. I have found them to be the best of both worlds, best battery life and great durability.

    Just ordered the Maverick 733.

There's a store on Ebay that has factory returns on sale for $45 w/ free shipping. Basically, packages had been open. They also send brand new probes so you are not using anything someone could have used. Good deal. They are normally $70. Found the BGE version of this in a store in Summerville earlier and they wanted $100. Ummmm...Hell no.

I've got the mini with one probe, but you could use the iGrill2 with two probes - one stuck in the meat, and then clamp the other probe over the grill grid surface.

That's a good deal. A Thermapen is also another useful item, especially for chicken or steaks.

If you grill frequently, you should own a Maverick and a Thermapen. Gotta have the right tools for the right job.

Got my maverick 733 in the mail today and played around with it this evening. I swear this is cheating. How in the heck did I do long and slows with out it. I can sleep through an overnight cook with this with out having to get up every hour to check on it.

Bringing this back to life. Is the 733 or 732 still the go to? Bought my brother one years ago and it did well. Just curious if anyone has found anything better.

So Shallow made me look this thing (Thermoworks Smoke) up. It appears to be a better unit. It will do all the Maverick will do...however, the construction, buttons and ease of program look better. The Thermoworks appears to have soft rubber buttons vs the Maverick, hard brittle plastic buttons that are destined to fail at some point and the Thermoworks programming appears to be straight forward whereas the Maverick...no one off the street will pick it up and program it. You'll have to read the book or watch online videos first. $100 seems a bit pricey for it though.
