Shit, where the fuck have ya'll been? This has been done many times in the past and rightfully so. Some of you fucking amaze me. It would be like shooting deer in a barrel in those flooded areas. Good call DT and legislators, but it should have came a day earlier.

DNR was granted the authority for temporary closure so this is fully their decision.

Stinks especially because the rut is starting.

Maybe you'd actually have a chance to kill one in conditions like these Cromer.

Scdnr website has nothing about such closure. Who was your source Duck Tape?

I need more proof than hearsay before I don't go hunting.

He read it off of Kirby's facepage..

How about the deer where they are 25 miles from anything that floods?

Contrary to popular belief they are harder to hit when swimming.

A few days out a 4.5 month season is not a big deal. With no daily or seasonal limits on bucks areas have to be closed during floods to protect the resource.

Just curious how they go about messaging the closure to areas. I mean before my father passed two years ago, I couldn't tell you the last time he ever was on social media for hunting related information. Public postings on the road maybe? DT any idea? Mailings to each license holder?

Cope left message, Kirby left message, also saw his Facebook site.

20 counties starting Wed at noon. All I know for now but have returned calls and asked to know more.

    Will post when I do.

The rut is most definitely on here. Watched them all afternoon going at it. Still haven't seen a single hog. They got hammered by this flood around here.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but not every area is flooded. I feel like DNR is blanketing an entire area, and unrightfully so. For what it's worth, I wouldn't be hunting anyway. Just don't think it's right.
